Trusting Ourselves for Transformational Change

I have begun to work on trusting myself, my inner instinct, or intuition, for some time now.  That little voice that comes from our center, near our heart (as opposed to from our head). That kind, soft, quiet voice that often gets drowned out by that loud, nagging, doubting voice.  Part of the journey in my writings here is to facilitate a discussion, an awareness, of how we can each restore our trust in our higher selves.  For once we can learn to distinguish between the two "voices," we can begin to make transformational, monumental changes by listening. The constant chatter in our modern society makes it incredibly hard to draw out that quiet inner voice... But the good news is that by quieting our busy mind, we can learn to give it space to emerge. And then once we can identify that inner voice, we can work with it, we can empower it, we can start to guide our lives with it.  Truly and really.

Now, I know you have heard this before.. the benefits of meditation, blah blah blah, yes it sounds great and I know all that, but I have bigger and better things to worry about, you may be thinking.  I am not here to tell you about the health benefits of meditation. I am here to tell you that your life can be completely different, better than you ever imagined, if you can follow your inner voice and use it to guide every moment of every day.  I am starting to understand this, and I am working on putting in into practice in my everyday life, in many small moments.  By focusing on breathing while in the car, by pausing to count to five before responding to a heated email exchange, by giving thanks for the blessings in my life each morning in the shower, by sending out a light cord of compassion from my heart to my boss's heart before a meeting.

I want to write to you here to start a conversation, an awareness, about how we can start to really become who we are meant to become, what our soul longs to become. How to integrate those very nice concepts of relaxation and prayer and gratitude and love into the practical, logical, busy days that we call our lives. And the way to start doing that is through calming/quiet the thinking mind to let the intuitive voice out.  Sometimes during long stretches, sometimes during short stretches.  Start here and then begin to trust your voice, and see the magic unfold.  To be continued...
