Places that Scare Us
The above picture is a perfect depiction of my state of hopeful being right now. I have just shared this blog on Facebook, and hence out into the world. It took me a few days to muster the courage to do this, but with some prodding, I was able to overcome somehow.
I was reminded of the brilliant book, Places that Scare You, by Pema Chodron. She is an pillar of higher wisdom of the Buddhist tradition, who saved me with her book When Things Fall Apart (sent to me by my sister) during a particularly sad, heartache period in my life about 10 years ago. It helped me wake up to the possibilities behind using our consciousness to evolve... and how this starts with the practice otherwise known as meditation (which I did during that time when nothing else worked).
I am experiencing that same bit of terrified feeling now that I am venturing into a new area, which is putting some thoughts/musings/inspirations out there in the world, with this very blog post to start. But as a wise woman recently told me, when we feel fear in venturing into the unknown areas of our capabilities, we are doing something right.
