Children and Past Lives

I believe that we all have multiple past lives that play more of a role in our current lives than we know. Children and babies are often very intuitive, especially children born today (who need to be to help the rest of us wake up to our potential).  My four year old son Arran regularly talks about "his grandfather" who gave him things, like a walking stick, and who he clearly loved and respected. He also regularly talks about "when he was a little girl."  I had not paid much attention to these comments at first, thinking it was just his imagination at work.  But I had wondered all along if it could actually be something connected to a past life.  I would wonder, and then decide that it probably wasn't, which is what we all tend to do with improbabilities. But what if instead of not believing, we chose to believe? The other night as he was falling asleep (a time when we are most open to the Other Side) Arran started talking about his grandfather again. This time he made sure I knew that this was a different grandfather (not one of his current two) who "didn't speak English" and whose name was "Juan." He then started talking about his brother who was shot with a gun (granted, we had talked about toy guns earlier that evening), and who had died in the kitchen when the bad guys came, and that he (Arran) was safe because he hid in the basement. This, to me, seemed way too elaborate to be an imaginary story. I could have told him that was an interesting story, and he eventually would probably forget about it, and push the memories away. This is what happens with many children who we brush off with these stories: they just have "active imaginations..."

In that moment with Arran, though, I chose to believe him, and I actually did believe him. I said that he must have been very sad, and that he would probably see his brother again in another life. And he seemed happy with that.

I have been told and I now understand that part of my role as a parent to my son, and to my 8-month old daughter, is to nurture their intuitive gifts, so that they can use them to access higher guidance in their lives, and maybe even to help others.

When the Universe Speaks to Us

"Spirit Guide" was on the cover of the Portland Phoenix today.  I was pleasantly surprised to see that, since we don't usually hear about spirit guides in the media. The Universe speaks to us all the time, but we don't always listen or notice.  It could be that I'm just noticing little messages from the universe more, or that we all are just getting them more.  Either way, it also seems that more of us are seeing the other realms that exist to offer us guidance.. to show us we don't have to go it alone in this life.  Sometimes we just have to ask, literally ask very specifically, around what we would like support or guidance.  I have been amazed at the answers.  Sometimes they are whimsical and literally are on roadside signs.  I once asked for a sign that I was doing was the right thing by ending a relationship.  Soon after, I drove by a stoneware/gardening store with a sign that said "You on the Right Path."  I almost swerved off the road. This is just one example of many.

In the past few months, I have been experiencing a spiritual "waking up."  While this has happened several times over the past 10 years, I intend now to make spirituality the roots grounding me in my life.

Now, I notice messages and signs like these from my guides/angels/maybe even God several times a day. It is comforting to know that there are loving beings looking out for me, that have my back. And a sense of humor too.

The Force Is Real

energymeditatorsm I told myself I would write on this blog every day for two weeks, so by gosh, I'm going to do it.  Tonight I went to see "Star Wars," and was struck by the talk of "The Force."

Everything I have come to learn and experience is that "The Force" is real.  I imagine that some people may find this very hard to believe, which is why we can't experience/access it, because we don't believe.  Other terms for it are Source/Universal Life Force, or simply All-Encompassing Love.  And this lives within each of us and all around us, and yes, we can channel it into everyday life. An energy field that binds us all together that can be used to manifest positive intentions, activity, connections, opportunities.

I love it when the hidden secrets of our world manifest in popular culture, such as movies and books.  What seem to be amazing feats of the imagination in science fiction probably aren't that imaginary.
