Here's a Secret for You..

39aea540c921cabbe088856cb24aeae9 Dear readers,

I feel the need to back up a bit and tell you why I am writing this blog. Over the past few months, I have started working with someone who is in effect a guide on earth for me (ask me about her - she may be able to help you too) who has helped me unlock some latent parts of my inner self.  These parts have been there for years, but I haven't always believed they were real. I have always been interested in mystical areas of life, and now I know why. I remember doing school projects on ESP as a kid, and wondering why so many dreams of mine would always come true in reality - from dreams about car accidents, pregnancies, meeting my children in my dreams years before they were born- and meeting my husband as well -  to visits from what I now understand are guides from the Other Side in my dreams. Receiving messages in dreams from loved ones of mine and of others who have passed on that I had to convey to their living relative.

We all have intuitive gifts, you see. I am simply exploring and honing these gifts further.  Through meditation, for it all starts here, and asking directly for specific guidance from spirit guides/angels/maybe even God, I have been given information coming in tidbits, sometimes in my head or sometimes literally things out in the world. And this information I now understand needs to be shared widely.  Many people also share this information in our world, but in different ways. Dan Harris, the ABC news anchor, had an awakening that inspired him to write a book about it, called 10% Happier. A great book on how meditation changed his life (well, okay, made him about 10% happier) and how it is accessible to EVERYONE.  I love how he says, "meditation has a serious PR problem."  So true.  I believe that I am being guided to convey similar information, to add to what others like Dan Harris (and many, many others) are trying to get across to humanity: that we need to understand, to know, to truly believe, that we are capable of so much more than we realize.

I was very hesitant, dear friends, to post these types of things on Facebook in particular, because I know there are many skeptics out there (I was one of them!), who write things off as "coincidences" or "imaginary" or just plain "weird."  I even thought that people who were psychics were outright lying about stuff (sadly, there are some people out there who do this). But, because of the number of incredible events and experiences that I have experienced thus far in my 38 years in this life, I no longer have doubts and am choosing to believe.  And once I have started to believe, the universe has responded.  And that is the beginning of what I want to share with you. I'm sure you have heard this before, because I had.  I had read about it in many different places, but I just wrote it off as, oh, yes, that kind of weird metaphysical stuff, that I don't think really "works" for me. I couldn't believe it because I hadn't chosen to actually "believe."  And I hadn't really tried. So events didn't work out for a while, because I didn't believe and I wasn't really listening.  But when the universe kept knocking on my door with a series of unfortunate events one year, I finally decided to listen and take action.  Because it does take work.  It takes conscious effort to control the ego/negative voice that can dominate our thinking ("that's nice but it isn't for you," "people will think you're weird," "that stuff doesn't really work," "other people can do that but not you," and so on).

This has to do with our thoughts.  And understanding that our thoughts are energy, and that our energy affects everything around us. I am not explaining this as well as I'd like to, because it's late and I'm tired, and I'm not a quantum physicist.  But the simple fact is that if we can learn to control our thoughts, our thoughts shape our reality.  Our future is not set in stone, yes, we come to each life with a purpose to accomplish, and it is up to us to decide if we are going to take the courageous path toward self-actualization/evolving/enlightenment/whatever you want to call it, by following our higher self/our intuition to do what we are meant to do.  Many of us ignore this, as I did for a while, which is why the same patterns keep coming up again and again in our lives.  We wonder why we keep getting stuck in bad relationships, or getting sick all the time, or having the same problems in every job.  It's because we haven't quite done the hard work we may need to do to break the patterns.  If we can learn to understand our thoughts and the incredible impact they have, we can start to realize that negative thinking brings about more negativity, and positive thinking brings about positivity. The law of attraction, or more aptly, the law of vibration. We have much more control over our destiny than we think.  Maybe we can learn to harness this control and make our lives be the way we want them to be.  For the purpose of love of course.

That's all for now... thanks for listening/reading as always.

Places that Scare Us

comfort-zone The above picture is a perfect depiction of my state of hopeful being right now. I have just shared this blog on Facebook, and hence out into the world.  It took me a few days to muster the courage to do this, but with some prodding, I was able to overcome somehow.

I was reminded of the brilliant book, Places that Scare You, by Pema Chodron. She is an pillar of higher wisdom of the Buddhist tradition, who saved me with her book When Things Fall Apart (sent to me by my sister) during a particularly sad, heartache period in my life about 10 years ago. It helped me wake up to the possibilities behind using our consciousness to evolve... and how this starts with the practice otherwise known as meditation (which I did during that time when nothing else worked).

I am experiencing that same bit of terrified feeling now that I am venturing into a new area, which is putting some thoughts/musings/inspirations out there in the world, with this very blog post to start.  But as a wise woman recently told me, when we feel fear in venturing into the unknown areas of our capabilities, we are doing something right.

The Common Human Experience

It occurred to me when reading a comment to the last blog post that we all have the same experiences and same emotions.  We all go through various, similar states of joy, pain, love, excitement, worry... We just go through them at different moments in our lives (or in past lives). The Minor Arcana of the deck of Tarot cards represent different human emotions. 56 of these cards represent all human emotions that have ever existed throughout time (the Minor Arcana cards reversed can bring about 112).  That's 112 emotions that all human beings experience during our lives.  That means that we can all relate almost perfectly to each other and understand each other, since we all know what various emotions feel like.  This might be why when we watch a really sad movie, or hear about a tragedy that has happened, we often cry, especially if we can relate more personally. While we don't like to feel sad, it is actually a beautiful thing that we can empathize on that level with other human beings.  Some people are natural empaths and actually experience the emotions of others unwittingly on a very deep level (several weeks ago I felt the deep sadness of a stranger I was telling a story to).  Empaths need to protect themselves from too many emotions overwhelming their energy bodies.

We are all connected through our emotions, through our energy, through our thoughts.  We could communicate telepathically (once again) if we opened ourselves up to it. We are in separate bodies, but our consciousness is one.  Some might call this the Universal Life Force, or God, that lives within each of us.
